“I am really sad to withdraw from this wonderful tournament at Indian Wells. Everyone knows how much I love this place. It is also one of the reasons why I came here very early to practice and try to get ready for the tournament.
“I worked hard and took a test this weekend. However, I found myself not ready to play at the highest level, at an important event like this. This is not an easy decision, but I cannot deceive myself as well as thousands of fans.

According to the original schedule, Nadal will face Milos Raonic in the first round. After he withdrew, the replacement name was Sumit Nagal. Notably, this is the player who once and Ly Hoang Nam won the Wimbledon Young Championship in 2015.
