The opening match of the quarterfinals of the 2025 expanded men's singles is the competition between Alexander Zverev and Tommy Paul. At the first two sets, the two players had to pull together in two tension tie series.
Notably, Tommy Paul proved quite immature in the gun battles. Set 1, American tennis player only won 1 point and received 1-7 defeat. Set 2, everything worse when he lost to white 0-7.
Set Set 3, Zverev is not good, creating conditions for Paul to shorten the score. Accordingly, the American star won the break early in the first game. By the end of the set, he won extra break in game 7 hinge to close set 3 with a 6-2 difference.
Even so, Paul could not make surprises. Zverev returned strongly in Set 4. Seed No. 2 won 2 consecutive breaks in games 2 and 4 to take the lead 5-0. Paul then accepted the racket with a 1-6 defeat.
In the end, Zverev defeated Paul 7-6 (1), 7-6 (0), 2-6, 6-1 and won the first ticket to the Australian semi-finals expanded 2025. His opponent was the winner in the focal match between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.
